The schedule for the Sensory Symposium is below to give you an idea of what was explored throughout the day.


A space of research and enquiry - The Auditorium

10:30 - 11:00 - Arrival, tea and coffee

11:00 - 11:15 - Welcome to the day

11:15 - 12:00 - Sharing learning from the Sensory Studio
Come and hear about the groundbreaking collaboration work that Frozen Light has been doing in the Sensory Studio, from the people who are central to the project.

12:15 - 13:00 - The Next 10 Years of Sensory Theatre
Join a panel of sensory theatre makers and academics to discuss and question what the next 10 years of sensory theatre might look like. Panelists include: Oily Cart, Blink Dance, Gill Brigg (Rose Bruford University), Frozen Light and Glass Ceiling Arts Collective (NZ).

13:00 - 14:00 - Lunch provided by The Feed

14:00 - 14:45 - Sensory Theatre Pitch Session
Come and hear the plans of the sensory theatre makers of the future - they’ll be looking for support, opportunities for collaboration and people to help make dreams a reality. Let’s build some connections!

15:00 - 15:45 - Coffee Klatch
This is your chance to have your burning sensory questions answered. You can either choose a topic to lead a discussion about or join a table conversation. Topics must be submitted before the event.

15:45 - 17:15 - 10th Birthday Party
Join us to celebrate Frozen Lights 10th birthday, with cake and Glass House Dance’s Time Machine Disco.

Tickets for this part of the Symposium will include lunch and refreshments.  You will also be able to visit the Sensory Studio and have access to the chill out space and RevoLOO - this is a mobile toilet with hoist and changing table.


A space of music and exploration - Studio Five:

Explore how we can experience sound with all of our senses with the fabulous team at Musical Keys. There will be three identical sessions throughout the day, so book on the time that works best for you.

A ticket for this session will include an invitation to Frozen Light’s 10th birthday party, with cake and Glass House Dance’s Time Machine Disco.  You will also be able to visit the sensory studio and have access to the chill out space and RevoLOO - this is a mobile toilet with hoist and changing table.


A space of sensory play - Studio Four:

Join Sensory practitioner Natalya Martin to explore the themes of the conference and party in a fun and sensory way. There will be three identical sessions throughout the day, so book on the time that works best for you.

A ticket for this session will include an invitation to Frozen Light’s 10th birthday party, with cake and Glass House Dance’s Time Machine Disco.  You will also be able to visit the sensory studio and have access to the chill out space and RevoLOO - this is a mobile toilet with hoist and changing table.


A space for the Sensory Studio - Studio One:

Frozen Light’s sensory collaboration space will be open throughout the day with music and sensory objects to play with. Participants are able to pop into the studio throughout the day to explore all that it has to offer.

You need a ticket to either the symposium or have booked a sensory session to visit the Sensory Studio.


A space for chilling - Studio Two:

Studio Two will be open throughout the day as a space to chill and have some time out. There will be a hoist available for people wishing for some time out of their wheelchair, along with yoga mats, bean bags, blankets and cushions. Ear defenders will also be available throughout the day along with numerous sensory objects to explore.


A space for personal care - RevoLOO

There will be a RevoLOO on site all day - this is a mobile toilet with a hoist and adult-sized changing table.


10th Birthday Party

At 3.45pm join Frozen Light in the Auditorium to celebrate our 10th birthday, we will share memories of the past 10 years, followed by cake and Glass House Dance’s Time Machine Disco.

We can’t wait to raise a glass and have a dance with all of you who have made the last 10 years so incredibly special!
