Audience Panel

  • Sarah and Dan are siblings living in Cheshire. Dan has PMLD and loves contributing to the Frozen Light Audience Panel. Dan and Sarah trialled the 2065 film during Covid lockdowns and have since seen the touring production twice, Dan even took to the stage in Chester!

Sarah is particularly interested in how to ensure Frozen Light is accessible to audience members who would find any other kind of performance too stressful to attend.

  • Jasmine and her late friend Lucy, for whom she was a carer for 12 years, used to love attending Frozen Light performances together to enjoy the magical sensory aspects of theatre. A career in care and respite for young people with complex needs highlighted her passion for enjoying drama, music and dance through the senses and sharing hands on experiences which everyone can access and enjoy.

  • Annie has a long career working in the area of PMLD as a practitioner, senior leader, university lecturer and researcher.

Annie is a trustee for the charity PMLD LINK and co-author of the PMLD Standards, ‘Supporting people with profound and multiple learning disabilities: Core and Essential Service Standards’ (Doukas et al, 2017).

As a family carer, Annie is a member of the national advisory group for the Learning Disability Mortality Review Programme (LeDeR), bringing added insights from a lived experience of supporting and advocating for individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).

  • Sharon is passionate about access to multi-sensory theatre. Her daughter, Lauren, has PMLD and both Lauren and Sharon enjoy being part of the Frozen Light audience as much as possible. Sharon works for a Community Interest Company (social enterprise) that delivers a broad range of health and social care services in the community. Sharon is also a Governor at a local special needs school.

  • Catherine is a teacher and musician from Leicestershire. Since she began to teach pupils with PMLD four years ago, her eyes have been opened to many barriers that were before invisible. She is keen to find new ways to increase the visibility of the PMLD community and to improve provision for them. Catherine is therefore delighted to be able to join Frozen Light in their mission to make theatre and arts buildings more accessible.
