FAQs

  • What does PMLD stand for?
    Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.

    How do you define PMLD?
People with PMLD have more than one disability, the most significant of which is a profound learning disability. All people who have profound and multiple learning disabilities will have great difficulty communicating. Many people will have additional sensory or physical disabilities, complex health needs or mental health difficulties.

People with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and their carers, friends and families.

How many carers can accompany a person with PMLD?

The audience is limited to 6 individuals with PMLD and their carers.

    ● The show is multi-sensory
    ● There is lots of 1:1 interaction with audience members
    ● Highly trained performers with years of experience working with people with learning disabilities

Can we eat or drink during the performance?
Yes - please feel free to eat, drink, and administer food/drink orally or enterally during the show.

Can I leave the person I am accompanying at the show on their own?
No - performers and theatre staff are not responsible for audience members. A person with a learning disability will need to be accompanied by a carer/companion. The show has been designed to be enjoyable for everyone and we hope that the companions will enjoy the show too.

6 individuals with PMLD and their carers.

No - Frozen Light performs exclusively at theatres and arts venues.

Can we bring more than 6 individuals with PMLD to the show?
The show and stage layout has been created specifically for an audience of 6 people with PMLD and the quality of the show will be greatly reduced by a larger audience. There are one-to-one moments throughout the production which means that there is not time in the show for there to be a larger audience.
